Keep on

I keep on keeping on letting blinds see free flops when I'm heads up against them with AA and I keep on keeping on losing.

However, both times this week that I did that (including tonight), I went on to win the next SnG I played.

Coincidence?

I will have a definitive answer as to whether or not you'll see me in Vegas by this weekend. I have no bankroll but I really really want to see everyone!

Stay tuned.

They Blow Up Casinos Don't They

newfrontier

One of the guilty pleasures of living in Las Vegas is that about once a year they blow-up a casino. OK, so the other guilty pleasure is that my job requires me to play poker at least two or six times a week. This past week guilty pleasure #1 saw the implosion of the New Frontier Casino on the Strip.

As "Big Bangs" go, this one got a B-. About six minutes of fireworks followed by maybe thirty seconds of crash, bang, boom and then the usual cloud of dust and other carcinogenic debris. But if you are ever in town for one of these, they are worth the viewing. Below are some of the better YouTube submissons for your viewing pleasure.

#1 Eight minutes long, 6+ minutes of fireworks, shot from top of Stratosphere

#2 Short and sweet and a bit more professional with a little Elvis too.

#3 This is as close as you can get ground level, better viewing is often had from the roof of nearby hotels.

#4 Finally, the professional view as CNN Espanol reported the final moments.

By the way, should you ever get an opportunity to see a demolition, remember to check the windage. You do not want to be downwind in the path of that cloud of dust.

The Future of Online Poker in the USA: One View

circleAI went to the Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas yesterday to catch the speech by former US Senator Alfonse D'Amato, chairman of the Poker Players' Alliance lobbying organization. The highlight of the good Senator's presentation came when he actually said that he expects the legalization of online poker in the United States within 18 months.

Quite frankly I was surprised to hear this because as a long-time Washington insider, D'Amato knows that unringing the bell on a law is a lot more difficult than passing the bill in the first place. Most serious watchers of the DC scene do not feel that their is anywhere near critical mass support to overturn the Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act. But several sources have sounded hopeful notes in the last several weeks. So back to the good Senator and others, who are closer to the issue than I.

Joining D'Amato on theState of the Industry: Internet Gambling at the Crossroads panel were: J. Terrence Lanni, chairman and CEO of MGM MIRAGE; Gary Loveman, chairman, CEO and president of Harrah's Entertainment, Inc.; and Andre Wilsenach, CEO of the Alderney Gambling Control Commission.
